The President of the Southern Transitional Council, Supreme Commander of the Southern Armed Forces, President Aidaroos Qassem Abdulaziz Al-Zubaidi, received on Sunday, at his residence in the Saudi capital Riyadh, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Yemen, Christopher Hanzel, and his deputy Ms. Kathlee Wesley.
During the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi reviewed the efforts made by the Southern Transitional Council to implement the Riyadh Agreement and the mechanism for its acceleration, praising the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to unify the efforts of the anti-Houthi forces in a way that serves the unification of the front against hostile regional projects that target the security and stability of the region.
President Al-Zubaidi also reviewed the prevailing conditions in the south and Yemen, referring to the tragic humanitarian and living file of the citizens in the liberated governorates, especially in light of the interruption of salary payments, the deterioration of services, and the collapse of the local currency, stressing that the Southern Transitional Council attaches special importance to the citizens’ needs and basic requirements, and that efforts are currently focused on the mechanism to accelerate the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement to reach the formation of the new government as soon as possible, and to perform its duties in order to alleviate the suffering of the citizens.
President Al-Zubaidi expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts led by the United States of America to bring peace and end the raging wars in the region.
For his part, the American ambassador expressed his country’s aspiration for the success of the efforts led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to implement the Riyadh Agreement and the formation of the new government in order to carry out its role from Aden, hoping to implement this as soon as possible, appreciating the positive role of the Southern Transitional Council in this regard.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohammad Al-Ghaithi, Deputy Head of the General Department for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Anis Al-Sharafi, Member of the Negotiations Affairs Unit, and Mr. Adel Mutlaq, Member of the General Department of Foreign Affairs.
