The President of the Southern Transitional Council, President Aidarous Qasim Al-Zubaidi, chaired on Wednesday, a joint meeting that included the head and members of the Human Rights Department of the General Secretariat of the Council’s Presidency and the Human Rights Committee of the National Assembly of the Council.
In the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi stressed that building a human being and safeguarding his rights is the basis for building a homeland in which equality, justice, love, tolerance and the rule of law are prevailed, noting that the liberated southern revolution, whose political bearer and legitimate commissioner is represented by the Transitional Council, came only to victory for southern human rights, foremost of which is its right to restore its state.
The meeting reviewed the tragic humanitarian situation in the south due to the accumulation of corruption and the destruction of state institutions for three decades, as well as the policies of collective punishment and the war of services.
The meeting reviewed the human rights violations and the continuation of murders, assassinations and arbitrary arrests committed by the military and security authorities under the control of the Brotherhood militia in Shabwa and Hadramout valley, and enabling al-Qaeda and ISIS terrorists to establish a fait accompli in the districts of Abyan governorate, which part of it is still under the control of the Brotherhood militia, and what is resulted of that in intimidating to citizens, leading to the confiscation of their right to life.
The meeting also touched on the government’s repudiation of its duties and obligations stipulated in the provisions of the Riyadh Agreement, and its insistence on doubling the suffering of the people and violating their most basic human and life rights.
The meeting stressed the importance of joint coordination between the Human Rights Department in the General Secretariat and the Human Rights Committee of the National Assembly, with southern community organizations, as well as international organizations for the protection of human rights, and informing them of the crimes committed against the people of the south.
