The Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council, Chairman of the National Assembly, Major General Ahmed Saeed bin Brik, met on Sunday, with Eng. Mohammed Bakhubaira, Director of the Water and Sanitation Corporation in the capital, Aden.
The meeting, which included Dr. Anis Luqman, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, discussed the general situation of the Corporation and the obstacles that stand in the way of its work.
Bakhubaira pointed out that the Corporation is working with self-efforts and scarce capabilities to provide the people’s needs of water, despite its severe shortage, as well as the outdated and worn out equipment that does not keep pace with the population density that the capital suffers from as a result of the daily displacement to it, stressing the need to expedite the implementation of strategic projects included in the agenda of the Corporation to establish a seawater desalination plant that includes the surrounding districts in Aden the capital, as well as to work on solar-powered projects so that the Corporation can solve the problem of the lack of water access to some areas.
For his part, Major General Bin Brik praised the self-efforts of the Water Corporation in providing water and stabilizing its access to all districts in the capital, Aden, stressing the need to make an organized plan for the process of distributing water to districts that suffer from shortages and difficulty in obtaining it, as well as submitting a report on the future plan of the Corporation in order to be considered, and to solve the obstacles and problems that will stand in the way of its implementation as required.
