Major General Ahmed Saeed Ben Brik, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), met, on Thursday, with the Assembly’s Committee for the Protection and Documentation of Historic and Heritage Monuments in the South, headed by Dr. Anis Luqman, head of the Committee, deputy chairman of the Assembly,
In the meeting, the head of the committee gave a satisfied explanation of the committee’s working progress in the past period and outcomes of a comprehensive study on protecting the ancient city of Aden from torrential rain and its flashfloods (the System of flash floods and dams- cisterns- vulnerable low-lying areas) supported by field work photos, scientific research, contour maps and graphs.The study has included Geographic information system (G. I. S) related to the boundaries of the water basin.
Likewise, the study has reviewed the first and the most ancient museum in the Arabian Peninsula (Al-Tawila Museum), which was established in 1930.
Major General Ben Brik lauded the presented study and thanked exerted efforts in preparing it by the head and members of the committee, and urged towards providing financial support to implement what was mentioned in this scientific study.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohammed Hammoud Qassem, deputy head of the Higher Education and Scientific Research Committee in the Assembly, Associate Professor of Architecture, Dr. Raja Batawil, Associate Professor of History at the University of Aden, and Mr. Ahmed Qassem Mohsen, Office Director of the chairman of the Assembly.
