Al-Kathiri Hails Efforts of SSJMM in Executing Outcomes of FCSJMM

Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, member of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and head of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA), lauded the efforts of the Syndicate of Southern Journalists and Media Members (SSJMM) in implementing the recommendations of the First Conference of Southern Journalists and Media Members (FCSJMM), which opened its doors and gave equal opportunities to all journalists and media members of the South to membership without any exclusion to unify the ranks, promote the skills, and improve the living conditions.

At the meeting that was held on Saturday with the head of the SSJMM, Mr. Aidaroos Bahashwan, Mr. Al-Kathiri underscored the significance of solidarity and cohesiveness to overcome the challenges encountering the SSJMM and its members and move forward towards broad horizons that enhance the status of southern journalists and media members to perform their mission with high professionalism in tandem with the people of the South in restoring and building their independent, federal state of the South.

For his part, Mr. Bahashwan expressed his thanks to NSMA for supporting the syndicate and easing its encountering difficulties, affirming that journalists and media members of the South are eager to join the syndicate and consolidate its foundations after years of exclusion, deprivation of the basic rights, and syndicating roles due to Yemeni political forces that undermined the status of journalists and media members, put restrictions that limit freedom and ability to assume the national responsibilities, and subjected media institutions to all kinds of destruction and sabotage, in addition to disinformation and stopping broadcasting and publishing in media institutions of the South.

The meeting stressed the importance of coordination and cooperation between NSMA and SSJMM for the interest of journalists and media members of the South, and conducting joint programs in training and qualifying members of the southern media, raising their level of professional performance, polishing up their journalistic skills, and enabling them to practice their rights.
