President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), witnessed the second consultative meeting of sheikhs and notables of the tribes of Abyan Governorate, which was held today, Saturday, in the city of Zinjibar, the downtown of the governorate, under the slogan “Together to Eradicate Terrorism.”
President Al-Zubaidi delivered a speech in which he expressed his happiness to participate in this meeting, which includes a constellation of sheikhs and notables of Abyan governorate. It is worth mentioning that the meeting was inaugurated with verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem of the South, and stood for a minute of mourning to tributely read Al-Fatiha for the soul of the commander of the Security Belt Forces in Abyan governorate, martyr Abdul-Latif Mohammad Hussein al-Sayyid, his comrades, and all the martyrs of the South.
Similarly, the president commended the uncompromising struggle and leading role of the people of Abyan in all the turns and stages that the country of the South has gone through, pointing out that the continued targeting of Abyan governorate by the forces of terrorism is nothing but to end a producing governorate with a heavy economic weight.
Likewise, the President underscored that the fight against terrorism is a decisive and existential battle, and there is no retreat at all, asserting that all the people of the South, the entire region, and the world are on the side of the people of Abyan until the eradication of this alien scourge on Abyan and the southern community in general.
Furthermore, President Al-Zubaidi affirmed his confidence that the people of Abyan will positively perform their role and say the final word at this crucial phase, so that Abyan will definitely regain its pioneering role and precious value that everyone knew about: a safe, stable, and producing governorate, highly appreciating the ultimate sacrifices made by the people of the governorate, the last but not the least of whom was the martyr, the commander Abdul-Latif Al-Sayed, and his fellow heroes. And all the martyrs of the South who irrigated with their pure blood the good soil of Abyan
It cannot be ignored that the meeting, which was supervised by the local leadership executive body (LLEB) of the STC of Abyan, also witnessed a speech by the Coordinating Committee of the consultative meeting, during which the Committee Head, Faisal Al-Marqashi, thanked President Al-Zubaidi for attending the meeting, indicating that this reflects the great interest he gives to the governorate and its people, in addition to displaying a documentary film, entitled Abyan Against Terror, which included bright scenes of the efforts made by the Southern Armed Forces to cleanse the governorate of terrorist elements.
At the end of the meeting, Sheikh Nasser Mohammad delivered the final statement of the consultative meeting, in which he affirmed the standing of the Abyan tribes and all the people of the governorate on the side of the southern forces in the fight against terrorism. Moreover, the statement included a number of urgent demands and recommendations to support the development path in the governorate.
The meeting was attended by members of the Presidium of the STC: Major General Kamal Hamshari, office head of the President of the STC, Major General Ali Nasser Lakhsha’a, Mr. Abdul-Nasser Al-Ja’ari, Major General Salem Abdullah Al-Soqtari, Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, Mr. Hassan Ghaithan, head of the LLEB of Abyan, Major General Fadl Ba’esh, Commander of the Special Forces of Aden, Lahj, Abyan, and Al-Dhalea, and Mr. Emad Mohammed, Office Head of the Vice President of the PLC.
