STC Presidium Lauds President Al-Zoubaidi’s Position Supporting Peace Efforts and Resolute to Achieve Aspirations of People of the South

The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its periodic meeting today, Thursday, chaired by Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the STC and Chairman of the National Assembly.

In the beginning of its meeting, the Presidium lauded the tireless efforts of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zoubaidi, President of the STC and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), in supporting the efforts of the official brothers in the region to move forward with the peace process under the auspices of the United Nations and his firm adherence to the necessity of this process to achieve the aspirations of the people of the South to restore their full sovereign state.

The Presidium renewed its condemnation of the acts of piracy and targeting carried out by the Houthi militia against ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, warning of the threats that these hostile acts pose to international shipping lines by raising the costs of marine transport insurance and the prices of basic commodities in the country and the region.

In its meeting, which was attended by the Minister of State, the Governor of the capital, Aden, Mr. Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, Major General Mutahar Ali Naji, Director of Security in the capital, Aden, Brigadier General Mohsen al-Wali, Commander of the Security Belt Forces (SBF), and a number of security leaders, discussed a range of topics on its agenda, the foremost of which is the mechanism for collecting resources, the status of public services in the capital, Aden, the security situation, and the land file.

In this regard, the Presidium confirmed its support for the measures of the local authority in the capital, Aden, to improve the process of collecting resources, stressing the need to continue the process of monitoring to ensure collection and supply in accordance with the applicable systems.

In another context, the Presidium reiterated its emphasis on the need for the government to assume its responsibilities in supporting the directives of the Ministry of Electricity and the leadership of the local authority in the capital, Aden, to ensure the supply and regularity of energy service during the upcoming summer.

In its discussion of the security situation, the Presidium emphasized arresting those accused of causing incidents of Al-Safina roundabout (the ship roundabout) in Sheikh Othman District, and urgently referring them to the prosecution to take the necessary action as per the law, highlighting its rejection of any actions that undermine the security, stability, and public tranquility of citizens.

Furthermore, the Presidium stood before the report submitted by the committee assigned by President Al-Zoubaidi to go to the illegal fee collection checkpoints on the international coastal road in Abyan Governorate, led by Dr. Al-Khader Al-Saeedi, a member of the STC’s Presidium, and the recommendations included in the report, assigning the committee to proceed with removing all illegal collection points on the international line in Abyan, in coordination with the local authority and the military and security leadership in the governorate, as a first step to circulate it to the rest of the governorates.

Simlarly, the Presidium listened to the report submitted by a member of the Presidium, the Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the Presidium of the STC, Mr. Fadl Al-Gaadi, about his visit that he paid to the Socotra Archipelago last week at the official assignment of President Al-Zoubaidi, as well as the results of the meeting held by the two members of the Presidium, lawyers Ali Haitham Al-Gharib, Yahya Ghaleb Al-Shuaibi, and a number of Council heads, with the Director of the Office of the UN Special Envoy in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

The meeting touched on a range of organizational topics and issues related to the work of the council’s central, auxiliary, and local bodies and took the appropriate measures.
