Major General Ahmed Saeed bin Barik, Vice Chairman of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), held an expanded meeting on Sunday in Al-Mukalla with members of the STC’s local leadership executive body (LLEB) and the House of Commons in Hadramaut Governorate, in the presence of Mr. Fadi Baoum, member of the STC’s Presidium, and Mr. Abdulsalam Musa’ed, head of the National Dialogue Team.
During the meeting, Major General Ahmed Saeed Bin Brik said: “Today, we are going through very complicated political circumstances, as a result of the accelerated regional and international developments, based on the conflict of interests, which requires us, in the leadership of the STC, to have political acumen to direct the compass of the interests and aspirations of our people in the right direction and to assume the responsibility that has been placed on our shoulders towards the blood of the martyrs and the wounded.”
Likewise, Ahmed Saeed Bin Brik highlighted dealing seriously with the challenges and rapid regional and international developments by updating and developing methods in line with the challenges to fulfill the interests of the people.
Similarly, Bin Brik emphasized that there is no deviation from achieving the goals and aspirations of the people of the South in their right to restore their independent state, based on the unity of the southern ranks and openness to dialogue with all southern parties, noting the importance of the role of women of the South at various stages and calling for holding a feminist meeting with a member of the Southern National Dialogue Team (SNDT), Mrs. Mona Haitham, to discuss the situation of women in Hadhramaut, and what the women of Hadhramaut can offer in terms of strengthening national cohesiveness.
In the same context, Mr. Fadi Baoum, a member of the STC’s Presidium, pointed out the importance of combating corruption, activating the principle of financial disclosure, and the necessity of coordination between the LLEB and the local authority and bridging the gap between the local leaders and segments of society.
Furthermore, Mr. Abdul Salam Musa’ed, head of the SNDT, gave a brief explanation of the activity of the NDT during the past two years, which culminated in the consultative meeting and signing of the National Charter, where the participation rate of Hadramaut was more than “35%” due to the governorate’s geographical and demographic weight and its historical, cultural, and economic depth, indicating that the next steps will include forming dedicated committees in each governorate to discuss how to manage its affairs.
It is worth mentioning that the meeting began with verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the southern national anthem and a welcoming speech from the head of the LLEB of Hadhramaut, Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Mohammadi. In addition to that, the meeting discussed a range of topics, including the challenges and concerns facing the people of the governorate.
