President Al-Zubaidi Discusses with U.S. Ambassador Ways of Establishing Peace and Counter-terrorism Efforts

In the meeting, the latest developments on the local scene were reviewed and discussed, particularly the UN truce, the economic situation in the capital Aden and the liberated governorates, and the exerted efforts to receive the pledges provided by the official brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, in addition to efforts to counter terrorism.

In this context, the president called on the US administration to play a vital role in accelerating donors’ pledges to assist the leadership of the PLC in reviving the economy, establishing security and stability, and launching the development process.

The president Al-Zubaidi affirmed the support of the STC and the PLC for efforts and endeavors of the international community to a ceasefire and peace, noting that many concessions were made to assent to the UN truce in respecting Will of the international community, despite the certainty that Houthi militias are having no seriousness on this regard, the president highlighted that these concessions by the government will stay no longer if not met with a similar response from Houthi militias.

The president Al-Zubaidi reiterated seriousness of the leadership of the STC and the PLC in fighting terrorism and confronting Iranian expansion in the region, calling on the US administration to support the security forces, particularly the counter-terrorism and Coast Guard forces, to properly perform their role and accomplish the assigned tasks in this aspect.

For his part, the US ambassador reiterated the US commitment to support the UN efforts to end the conflict and establish sustainable peace in the region, assuring that the US administration is working with its international partners to put more pressure on Houthi militias to push them to engage in the peace process and prevent supplying of Iranian weapons.

Similarly, the ambassador Fagin renewed commitment of the US administration to support the PLC and the power-sharing government, and its willingness to provide logistics and assistance to the security forces, foremost of which are the counter-terrorism and Coast Guard forces, to accomplish their tasks in combating the terrorism of al-Qaeda, ISIS, and Houthi militias.
